Do you think it was a team or a group experience, what was your contribution to the exercise, how effective do you think the exercise was, what would you have changed about the exercise?
I feel like during that experience it was a group effort. I believe that because we all really worked together to get what we needed to do, done. My contribution to the exercise was "the leader" I had to tell everyone what to do (which I had them split up into two groups of 7 & put the room back to how it was). Successfully everyone worked together and got in done and back to classroom ready. I think the exercise was very effective because it gave us all a chance to work together as a group & really see that we can trust one another to get anything done. I wouldn't have changed anything, besides the fact that we should have left the room how it was for the next class :)

Each. Others. Blogs.

::Could Work With::
1) Ryan Stambro - seems like a really outgoing & fun person to work with.
2) Mark Hicks - because we both seem pretty easy going.
3) Heather - likes to be organized.

I don't really want to write who I don't think I could work with... I feel like if you are put into a group/team then you should figure things out (together) & get them done. Even if someone does something better than the other. You work together to better each other and make something amazing between "random people".

Skill Set Inventory.

  1. What is your favorite thing to do outside of school? I really enjoy hanging out with my friends, traveling, working at the wine bar, visiting new places, relaxing with my dogs, watching movies, working out (cross fit), & sitting down and reading a good book.
  2. What is your favorite class and explain why it is your favorite? My favorite class would have to be.... gym class in high school. Because it really helped me figure out what type of work-outs I liked to do, and which ones I hated.
  3. What are you good at doing in New Media? I really enjoy filming, editing, and I'm just currently getting into sound.
  4. What are you good at doing outside of New Media? Honestly, meeting people. I always try to keep in contact with people I've met because it really helps when you need help with something and you know that person has something to offer and would be happy to help you.
  5. What is your favorite area of New Media (you don't have to be good at it, but you have to like whatever you talk about for this one?) My favorite area would have to be filming and editing. I really enjoy learning more about it and different techniques to use.
  6. Do you prefer to work independently or in a group? Please explain why. I prefer, both. I really like changing things up sometimes. I can honestly do both and be fine with it.
  7. What New Media classes have you had? -Web Development -Intro to Digital Media Principles -Visualizing Information -Digital Media Imagery -Design Issues in Digital Media -Digital Storytelling -Multimedia Content Management -Intro To Digital Video (Final Cut Pro 7) -3D Modeling -Directed Study I&II -Fundamental Comp Sci Concepts -Digital Effects (After Effects) -Seeing Sideways
  8. In a group project explain what you usually end up doing. I usually end up finding locations to film/people to act. I'm the one who is a pretty easy going person who will do whatever I need to do, and yes... I get it done.
  9. In a perfect group what would you like to end up working on? (i.e. hands-on work, research, presentation, web development, planning, etc.) Probably.. Presentation/Polishing a Project & Planning
  10. What is your opinion of group work? Please explain why. I agree with everything we talked about in class. That you are put with a random group of people who you never know what they are going to do. You could always have the quiet one, the bossy one, & the dumbass. But you have to all come together and work hard together or someones (if not all) grades would suffer.
  11. How do you think other people would describe you? I think... people think.. that I'm nice, helpful, outgoing, talkative, mysterious, & relaxed.
  12. How would you describe yourself? I would describe myself as easy-going, strong, hard-working, respectful, & level-headed.
  13. What do you do when a group project goes bad? I would try to figure out what could be done to fix it, communicate with the other members, get in touch with the teacher, and probably other things... I just can't think right now :( I'm not going to say that I'm a saint, because I do work, very hard & sometimes that gets in the way of school. But in the past people are really amazing at working with me, I personally just always try to keep in contact with everyone- so they don't just think I dropped off the face of the earth.
  14. What is civic engagement in your opinion? Working with others & helping out.
  15. What experience have you had working with community partners, either on your own, through school, church, or in any other capacity? I actually am very lucky sometimes, because at work I've got at least 3 internships while I was bartending (people were coherent) & I had an amazing time. One was actually with 3 Wide Media @ Conseco Field house for the Celebrity Charity Race.
  16. What do you know about Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB?) That they are located by my old house on Fletcher Ave.
  17. How do you think New Media (the program and all its resources) could help the community in general, and KIB in particular? Maybe making a documentary on them to show the world what they are about.
  18. How could YOU help the community, and KIB, particularly in terms of New Media? By being able to help them with the skills I've learned.
  19. What are your goals for this semester? To finish :) and get good grades!
  20. What do you want to be when you grow up? It's still being written.

What the Bleep?... (final project/course reflection)

Seeing Sideways... Where do I start? To be honest I didn't hear about the class until I signed up for it. I was nervous, because I didn't know what we were even going to be doing. (Pre-class jitters). But after the first couple of classes, I realized that I was really going to enjoy it. It was something different from all of my other classes, the class made you reach into your childhood/creative side and really let that shine in the class. I've have had Beth in previous classes, so I knew that at least the class was going to be exciting.

For the Final Project, (which I worked really hard on), I wanted people to see a different side of me and what truly makes me happy. Mind you I've never been good with my words, so I decided to use pictures to show how I felt. Which all-in-all works, because I love photography. Making the book about myself made me realize a lot of things... that being no matter what has happened, who has came and gone out of mine life... I always made sure to make it through and become a stronger person.

I really enjoyed this course, and if I could I would take it every semester... just to get my mind off everything and just think & be creative. Thank You Beth. It's been a pleasure.

Who Am I?... (final project)

  1. Who are you in the eyes/perception of others?  I am me. I always try to stay true to myself, and never let anything change that.
  2. How do you see/perceive yourself? I perceive myself as a hard-working, loyal, & loving person. I always strive to be the best that I can, in any circumstance. I've been through a lot since I was little & I try not to see the bad in it, but learn from it & become stronger because of it.
  3. Why are you here? (your definition of here) I am here because I'm suppose to be. Whether I am suppose to change the lives of others, to make someone smile, or be here for you when you fall. All I want to do is see the positive side of things. The grass is always greener...
  4. What are the implications of your identity to others? (you decide to whom the implications apply - you or others, but be specific) Truthfully, I don't want to know what other people think about me. Negative or positive. I just hate to be judged. I try to be the best person I can be, and yes- I admit that everyone has their days and may not be in the best mood, but that's only human. It doesn't mean that they are going to be like that forever. So, I don't want to know.
  5. How are you effected by the identity of others? (are you different around various people - why might that be) I'm actually not different around other people. I'm always myself & if you can't handle it then so be it. Granted I always try to feel people out and see if they are outgoing/shy, just because sometimes people could take me the wrong way, and then I wouldn't want anyone to judge me..
  6. Is identity static? (make sure to show in your project your answer to this) I don't think so. I am me, and I wouldn't want it any other way.

.Fear Factor. (Second Part)

   4.    Conduct the experiment.
I did my experiment with a couple of different people. What I did was put everyone's name down on a piece of paper with the numbers 1-20. After folding it in half, I wrote another list of 1-20 (with random things they had to do, ex. do 20 jumping jacks, sing a song).

5.    Observe the reaction.
I knew exactly what their reaction was going to be. They all were nervous because they had no idea what they were going to have to do in front of the class- which yes, it somewhat nerve-racking. I don't think they would have been as nervous if they were all doing the same thing- but since everything was different it made them on edge.

  6.    Analysis of hypothesis with actual outcome.
I feel like they were pretty much them same. I felt like people were going to be really nervous if their name was going to get called or what they were going to have to do.

   7.    Propose changes to your idea based on what happened.
The only thing I would have honestly changed would have been to come up with more unique things for people to do. Clever if you will.

Answer these questions on your blog.
    1.    What was it and who did it?
List of 20 names & 20 things they had to do. Someone picks 2 numbers - deciding on the person and the thing to do - person has to do it. Dale Clapp & Josh
    2.    Why did you respond to it so strongly?
I think it was a good idea- but I wish I would have thought about it more so that it was something really unique.
    3.    How does it impact how you see your own project?
It didn't really impact me much, I just wanted to see people do crazy things.
